New Orleans Civic Symphony is a volunteer non-profit organization that rehearses on a weekly basis every Monday night starting at 7:30 pm at the University of New Orleans Performing Arts Center on the Lakefront Campus. The Musical Director and Conductor of the Symphony is Dr. Charles Taylor, Chairman of the Department of Music at UNO. The musical selections range in difficulty from intermediate to advanced. The string openings would be available for adult as well as junior/senior high school musicians. Concerts are performed at various venues in the New Orleans Metropolitan area and are open and free to the public. There is no audition requirement. An interested musician can contact Dr. Taylor or Tom Masilla, President of NOCS via email. Interested musicians are invited to sit-in on two rehearsals and discuss their joining the Symphony with Dr. Taylor after their second rehearsal.
